Ryan
and Seth cruise down the bike path by the beach before rolling into a seafood
restaurant for a lunch of lobster. Ryan's first lobster, no less. Seth
asks how things are with Marissa, but Ryan says nothing's cooking. Seth
tells him to be bold, friend, and then offers to pay for lunch, but Ryan
is tired of everybody treating him. He needs some cash. Just then a busboy
is fired from the restaurant. Serendipity!
Kirsten and some friends wonder
if they should still go on their planned weekend retreat with Julie Cooper.
The women aren't pleased with her thief of a husband. Next door, Julie
wonders herself if she should go.
At work, Ryan learns the ropes
from Donnie, a bitter busboy who's over these rich jerks in Newport. Hot
chicks, though. And who would happen to stroll in but Summer and Marissa?
Ryan awkwardly asks Marissa if she wants to hang out sometime. Like a date?
No, not a date. Um…she can't. But thanks. And then Luke strolls in. On
Summer's invite, of course. Donnie says hi to Luke, who just laughs him
off.
After work, Seth drops by
to hang with Ryan. But our boy's already made plans to hang out with Donnie
and a couple of dolls. Seth gets the blow off. The next morning, Seth and
Ryan share some tension with their cold cereal. Ryan punches the clock
again and again runs into Marissa. He confesses that he did ask her out
on a date and tells her to prepare for it to happen again. Marissa is making
cheese & macaroni tonight when she babysits. How about then? It's on!
In Jimmy's office, Sandy helps
out with Jimmy's case. He advises that the SEC is going to push fraud charges,
and that it will be a tad difficult to recoup $4 million. Sandy suggests
they put down the receipts and blow off some steam.
Lounging in robes and pampering
themselves, the women begin to discuss l'affaire Cooper. One of the women
tells Julie she knows a great divorce attorney.
Elsewhere, Seth tells Ryan
they should hit an IMAX movie tonight. Ryan says he's hanging out with
Marissa so Seth again gets the blow off. Striking out on his own, Seth
asks Donnie if he wants to IMAX. Donnie tells Seth they should hit a kegger
in the LBC instead. Ryan warns Seth not to go. Seth is going either way
because he has mom's Range Rover, so Ryan agrees to go. For one hour!
Jimmy and Sandy fire up the
grill and crack a few longnecks to relax. Kirsten calls to check in and
is shocked that Jimmy answers. Kirsten tells him she's worried about him.
When she hangs up, Julie is standing there, not that impressed by Kirsten's
concern for her husband.
Seth and Ryan roll up on the
scene in Long Beach. This crowd is slightly harder than the one at Holly's
barbecue last week. Ryan is damn concerned about what could happen. He
calls Marissa and says he's on the way before dragging Seth out. On their
way, they hear somebody talk about this destroyed Range Rover up the street.
Oops.
In a sauna, the women continue
harping on Jimmy and the divorce attorney. Kirsten is fed up and points
out that nobody gave Karen the number of an attorney when her husband was
caught with his assistant. And you, you had a $500 a day coke habit in
college, and you, you have a Guatemalan family cleaning your house for
less than minimum wage. And Julie, Jimmy got in this fix so you and the
girls could have ponies and Porsches. So get off Jimmy's case already.
Julie isn't surprised by Kirsten's concern since Jimmy still has their
prom photo up on their wall. I mean, does she think it's a coincidence
they moved in next door?
Jimmy and Sandy hit the links.
Sandy talked to his securities attorney friend and says Jimmy could avoid
jail time if he makes financial restitution. Jimmy says he can't pay back
$4 mil. Sandy tells him to sell the $3.2 million house he lives in. Great
idea, except Julie will divorce him and take the kids if he sells the house.
At the seafood shack, Seth
invites Donnie to a party at Holly's tonight. Ryan thinks this is a bad,
bad, bad idea. That night, Marissa - giving Ryan a second chance after
Seth explained what happened the night before - brings leftover mac n'
cheese over to hang out. Seth, Donnie and a couple of Donnie's boys hit
Holly's beach house. Out back, Holly cozies up to Luke after finding out
he's on a Marissa break.
Ryan and Marissa discuss her
fears about home life, then loosen things up by shoving each other into
the pool and frolicking. Back at the party, Donnie steps to Summer, who
gives him the boot. Donnie doesn't like how they're "mad doggin'" him,
so he flashes his piece to Seth. In a less tense moment, Ryan and Marissa
get out of the pool and towel off. Right before the perfect moment leads
to a kiss, Seth calls. He's got a 911 at the party.
Holly is about to give Luke
some sexual healings when she hears a bottle break in the kitchen. Donnie
and his boys are tearing the place up. He and Luke square off and Ryan
steps in. Luke shoves Donnie and that's when Donnie pulls out his nine,
sideways gangsta grip style. Ryan wrestles Donnie for the gun and it goes
off, hitting Luke in the arm. Donnie and his boys jump ship.
The wives are taking a limo
home and Julie confesses to Kirsten that she was always envious of her.
And she felt lucky when Jimmy got her pregnant and then did the honorable
thing by marrying her. Finally at home, Kirsten and Sandy cheerfully share
a beer. But next door, Jimmy tells Julie she has a decision. They can either
liquidate and start over, or they can declare bankruptcy and watch Jimmy
head off to the pokey.
In the hospital, Seth and
Ryan wonder what's next. Marissa drops by to see how Luke is doing. But
is she really there to see Ryan?
